Different frame sizes
Sofa beds
Sofa beds are available in different sizes. Make sure the model you like is available in the appropriate size.
Sofa beds total width: add 2-5 inches to mattress width to account for sofa arms. (most double sofa beds with arms are between 79''-82'').
Sofa beds total depth: (from edge of seat to rear
of sofa): between 36 and 45 inches.
Here are the different sizes of sofa beds and appropriate futons.

Beds
Beds come in standard sizes:
Chair 30''
To complete a set and accommodate your guests.
As a sofa: requires a 30" x 54" futon folded in the
middle.
As a bed: simply add an ottoman topped by a 21" x
30" futon.
Chair 30'' Plus
To complete a set or a perfect solution for a smaller room.
As a sofa: requires a 30" x 54" futon folded in the
middle; the 21''x30'' extension hangs behind the back of the frame and is detachable.
As a bed: extendable seat or ottoman (depending on the model)
on which you put a 21" x 30" futon.
Studio lounger with double futon in 2 pieces
Ideal size for small places Comfortable in standard position or in lounger.
As a sofa: requires a 54" x 54" futon folded in the
middle; the 21''x54'' extension hangs behind the back of the frame and is detachable.
As a bed: extendable seat or ottoman (depending on the model)
on which you put a 21" x 54" futon.
Studio lounger with double futon
Ideal size for a comfortable sofa either as a long chair or as an overlapping
futon. Recommended as an occasional bed only since higher quality futons should
not be folded in that way.
As a sofa: requires a 54" x 75" futon which will overlap
the arms.
As a bed: you turn the 54''x75'' sideways on the extendable
seat.
Double
Ideal as a sofa or a bed and allows the use of a high-quality futon.
As a sofa: requires a 54" x 75" futon folded in the
middle.
As a bed: simply pull down the back of the frame.
Queen
Ideal for taller individuals who need a foldable bed. However the sitting position
is not as comfortable as with a Double and the back is usually higher.
As a sofa: requires a 60" x 80" futon folded in the
middle.
As a bed: simply pull down the back of the frame.
